Annual Service Grants
Each year, we distribute part of the funds raised at Bras for a Cause to local and international charities that improve the lives of women and girls.

Between 2008 and 2010, we gave Service Grants to the following charities:
- Alisa Ann Ruch Burn Center – camp scholarship for a girl
- Ark Family Center – Create Freedom and Awareness Seminar for girls
- Coalition to Abolish Slavery and Trafficking
- Door of Hope – Domestic Violence Program
- Girl Scouts of Greater Los Angeles - camp scholarships
- Girls on the Run of Los Angeles County - serving low-income girls
- Glendale Commission on the Status of Women – Camp Rosie
- Glendale Healthy Kids – Young Women’s Mental Health Project
- Glendale YWCA – Domestic Violence Project
- Haven House – Teen Dating & Healthy Relationships Program
Junior Blind – camp scholarship for girl
Salvation Army, Glendale Corps - Domestic Violence Program
Soroptimist International – Project SIerra – A Family and a Future Soroptimist International of the Americas
Didi Hirsch Community Mental Health Center, Glendale
Walter Hoving Home – recovery home for women

Soroptimist International of Glendale gives part of the funds raised from Bras for a Cause to support breast cancer services at our three local hospitals:

Glendale Memorial Hospital and Health Center
Verdugo Hills Hospital
Awards
Part of the funds raised from Bras for a Cause are also given to the winners of the Women’s Opportunity Award and the Violet Richardson Award, as well as to the charity where the Violet Richardson Award winner volunteers her time.
Standing Project
Since its inception in the 1970s, our club has supported the Glendale Unified School District Spelling Bee. We provide funds for the awards given to the winner of the Elementary, Middle School and High School Spelling Bees.
