About the Soroptimist Organization

Soroptimist is an international women's organization for business and
professional women who work to improve the lives of women and girls, in
local communities and throughout the world. Almost 95,000 Soroptimist members
in about 120 countries and territories contribute time and financial
support to community–based and international projects that benefit women
and girls.

The name Soroptimist means "Best for Women," and Soroptimist was founded in 1921 in Oakland, California.

All Soroptimist clubs belong to one of four federations.  Our club belongs to Soroptimist International of the Americas.

Soroptimist International of the Americas is divided into Regions, and Soroptimist International of Glendale is part of the Camino Real Region.

The other three federations are:

  • Soroptimist International of Great Britain and Ireland

  • Soroptimist International of Europe
  • Soroptimist International of the Southwest Pacific

The four federations make up Soroptimist International.
